Introducing Building the Bank - the book!

This new book, published by the Bank of England Museum, records the Bank of England's massive rebuilding project from 1925-39. Its original building, designed by the architect John Soane, was admired across the city – but it was no longer fit for purpose.

Enter Herbert Baker, the architect who reimagined the Bank from the ground up, working with skilled artists and craftspeople to create the site we know today. Over the next 15 years, he worked with artists and craftspeople to create a striking building with rich architectural decoration.

This talk event is an exclusive opportunity to discover more about the Bank of England Museum's newest book: Building the Bank - an accompaniment to the ongoing exhibition exploring the Bank's redesign.

Visitors will be able to purchase the book after the talk, or select our paid tickets to include your purchase of the book alongside access to the event (paid tickets will go on sale later, but you can reserve your free ticket now).
