Visit a major new cultural destination in the Square Mile

London Museum’s new free permanent galleries open in Smithfield on 28 November 2026. The museum brings together thousands of years of London’s history alongside a new social space for the City of London.

More than 100,000 people contributed to the creation of the new museum, which will tell the story of one of the world’s greatest cities in all its grit and glitter, showcasing iconic objects and never-before-seen items.

Following the London Museum opening on Saturday 28 November 2026, the inaugural exhibition 'Londinium: the making of a Roman city', displayed inside London Museum’s rediscovered network of underground vaults, will open to the public in Spring 2027.

Free to visit, and presenting unseen highlights from the world-renowned Bloomberg Collection of Roman artefacts, Londinium will use sensory-rich storytelling to bring visitors face-to-face with the lives and stories of the first Londoners.
