London Symphony Orchestra

The London Symphony Orchestra is London’s oldest orchestra, built on the belief that extraordinary music should be available to everyone, everywhere. The LSO has been Resident Orchestra at the Barbican since the Centre opened in 1982, where the Orchestra performs some 70 concerts every year – from classic symphonies to brand new commissions, from gospel music to film scores, and more.

Highlights of the LSO’s season include Half Six Fix – a series of early-evening concerts with introductions from the conductor and musicians – and LSO Discovery Family Concerts three times a year, with free pre-concert activities. The Orchestra also runs a venue on Old Street, LSO St Luke’s, with chamber music, free lunchtime concerts, learning events and more.

The LSO’s family of artists includes Chief Conductor Designate Sir Antonio Pappano, Conductor Emeritus Sir Simon Rattle, Principal Guest Conductors Gianandrea Noseda and François-Xavier Roth, Conductor Laureate Michael Tilson Thomas, and Associate Artists Barbara Hannigan and André J Thomas.
