St Lawrence Jewry is the municipal church of the City of London, located on a site where a church stood since the 12th century.
The church was rebuilt following the Great Fire of London in 1666, and is a great example of Christopher Wren's work. Heavily damaged during the World War II Blitz in 1940, it was rebuilt to Wren's original plans.
The church's distinctive name comes from its location near the old Great Synagogue – Jewry was the ideal addition to distinguish St Lawrence from its namesakes. The interior of the church is particularly fine, with stunning glass windows and a classic interior of white walls and dark wood that grandly represent Wren's original vision.
